Settings
PERIPLUS is Field Instrument 008, a place-anchored commonplace book that combines the Folio card index with the Cairn waypoint logger. Each entry (stone) carries text, optional tags, optional [[backlinks]], an optional photograph, and an optional GPS fix. Stones stack into views: chronological (timeline), daily (digest), spatial (map), topical (index).
Body text supports light markdown: **bold**, _italic_, ~~strike~~, `code`, [link](url), > blockquotes, and - lists. Tags are #tag (no space), backlinks are [[target]].
Storage is browser-local via the Origin Private File System (OPFS). Camera and GPS are requested per-session. Reverse geocoding is the only outbound network call beyond map tiles and is opt-out. Export early, export often.
A periplus, in its older sense, was a coastal pilot book: distances, harbors, hazards, observations, all annotated along a route. The instrument is in that lineage.
DESTRUCTIVE ZONE
Wipe all stones, all photos, all state. Cannot be undone. Export first.
